Anirnik Oshuitoq

Settlement: Cape Dorset / Kinngait

(1902-1983) — E7-965

Anirnik Oshuitoq was one of the very first powerful image-makers who worked with the printmakers in the early years of the studio in Cape Dorset (Kinngait). She began drawing in the early 1960s and her prints were frequently represented in the annual print collections until the mid-1970s.

Oshuitoq was particularly interested in the spirit world as subject matter. Her daughter Ningeeuga Oshuitoq (1918-1980) was also an artist.
