“Lucy illustrates the careful way in which the traditional snow-house interior was organized. The sleeping platform is in the rear. Various sewing and cooking utensils are arranged along the side platforms. As it was the woman’s duty to tend the fire, the stone qullik - an oblong-shaped lamp used for both cooking and heating - was kept close to her bed. Meat was stored on the floor near the front, as well as in the vaulted entrance passage, along with outdoor clothing and equipment.”
